10. BMW K 1600 GTL
Price - Rs 28,30,000
BMW’s flagship tourer makes it to the lowest spot on this list, which should give you an idea of what else is in store. The Beemer comes with all the bells and whistles you’d expect on a tourer of this price, including xenon headlights, an electric screen, an audio system and heated grips and seats. The Pro version also gets keyless ignition, a quickshifter, adaptive headlights, a reverse gear and hill-start control. Read more about the BMW tourer here.
9. 2018 Honda Gold Wing Tour
Price - Rs 28,49,975
Honda’s top-of-the-line tourer is a direct competitor to the Beemer above, and is similarly well-equipped. The Gold Wing gets a seven-speed automatic gearbox, keyless ignition, a 7.0-inch TFT display, Apple Car Play, an electric screen, heated grips and seats and even a double-wishbone front suspension. 8. Harley-Davidson Road Glide Special
Price - Rs 32,99,000
This is Harley-Davidson’s most well-equipped and expensive cruiser (discounting the custom-made CVO). The Road Glide gets Harley-Davidson’s 1,745cc Milwaukee Eight engine and is also equipped with features like a 6.5-inch infotainment screen and Bluetooth connectivity. If its large proportions weren’t enough, Harley has added a quarter-fairing to making it look more menacing. Read our first ride report here.
7. Kawasaki Ninja H2
Price - 33,30,000
The motorcycles so far have been expensive thanks to their raft of features, but this Kawasaki takes on a different approach. The Ninja H2 range consists of the only supercharged motorcycles currently in production. The supercharged 998cc engine puts out 210hp (with Ram Air) and 133.5Nm of torque, guaranteeing an explosive performance. Its wild and wicked styling adds to its appeal and ensures that the H2 isn't confused with any other superbike on sale.
6. Kawasaki Ninja H2 Carbon
Price - Rs 39,80,000
If even the H2 isn’t enough for you, Kawasaki has another bike that takes it up a notch. Dubbed the H2 Carbon, this bike puts out 215hp with Ram Air, and also has a carbon-fibre upper-cowl to add to the visual drama.
5. Indian Roadmaster
Price - 39,99,000
The Roadmaster is the Springfield manufacturer’s take on a cross-country cruiser. It gets a touchscreen Ride Command system, an electric front screen, adjustable footboards, keyless ignition, heated grips and heated seats. Indian Motorcycle had also sold one unit of the exclusive Roadmaster Elite for Rs 48 lakh (ex-showroom), earlier this year. You can read more about that model here.
4. Harley-Davidson CVO
Price - Rs 49,99,000
This is the most expensive motorcycle sold by ‘The Company’. 'CVO' stands for Custom Vehicle Operations and the motorcycle exclusively gets the manufacturer's most powerful engine – the 1,923cc Milwaukee Eight 117 – along with heated seats, heated grips, an audio system, Bluetooth headsets, a colour screen and keyless locking/unlocking.
3. Ducati Panigale 1299 Final Edition
Price - Rs 51,82,000
The last of Ducati’s large-displacement twin-cylinder sports bikes is also the most expensive (discounting the ultra-exclusive Superleggera and Desmosedici RR, of course). The Final Edition comes in a special tri-colour paint scheme with red wheels, and a titanium exhaust and an engine output of 209hp and 142Nm of torque.
2. Kawasaki Ninja H2R
Price - 69,80,000
The maddest bike in the H2 stable is also the second-most expensive bike on sale in India – and by a considerable margin. The numbers on the H2R are almost beyond belief – a stratospheric 326hp (with Ram Air) and 165Nm of torque, all from just a 998cc supercharged engine.
Fortunately (or unfortunately), the H2R isn’t a street-legal motorcycle, primarily because it comes shod with slick tyres, so buyers can use it only at the track. It’s a good thing tracks in India don’t have noise limits as yet, because if they did, the H2R would break them, too.
1. BMW HP4 Race
Price – Rs 85,00,000
Topping the list is BMW Motorrad's most exclusive production motorcycle. Priced at Rs 85 lakh (ex-showroom), the BMW HP4 Race is the most expensive motorcycle on sale in India. What makes the elusive BMW motorcycle stand out in terms of looks is its extensive use of carbon fibre. It’s the first production bike in the world to offer a mainframe made entirely of carbon fibre, which weighs just 7.8kg.
The bike also features carbon-fibre wheels and by employing lightweight materials, the HP4 Race tips the scale at just 171kg – the standard motorcycle weighs 208kg. As expected, the bike features top-shelf cycle parts and the motor has been tuned to pump out 215hp. The HP4 Race is, understandably, a track-only motorcycle and isn’t road-legal.
