Hyosung GT250 R

Kinetic-owned Motoroyale has announced its partnership with Korean motorcycle manufacturer Hyosung by reintroducing its flagship cruiser, the Aquila Pro 650 and GT250 R in India.

The Aquila Pro 650’s proportions make it look like a proper full-sized cruiser and is reminiscent of a typical Harley-Davidson. Its raked out front forks, finished in chrome, are complemented well by wide reach bars and a low rider’s seat. The teardrop-shaped fuel tank has sharp creases, ensuring the design flows nicely from the forks to the seat.

Nestled below the fuel tank is a butch V-twin engine with fat, chromed-out twin slash-cut exhausts. This 678.2cc liquid-cooled engine produces 62.5PS at 8000rpm and 57.3Nm at 7000rpm. A 5-speed gearbox transfers power to the rear wheel via a belt drive. To ensure a good cruising range, the motorcycle features a large 17-litre fuel tank too.

Its perimeter cradle frame is suspended on 41mm telescopic front forks and twin rear shock absorbers with adjustable preload. Braking is handled by a 300mm front disc and a 270mm rear unit.

The GT250 R with its big proportions, looks like a larger capacity bike, which has always been its strong point. on the design front its stays unchanged. Manufacturers are stepping up the game with 300cc displacement motorcycles. However, Hyosung, which has been one of the first to introduce a multi-cylinder quarter-litre motorycle in India, continues to sell the same 250cc motor in India.

The 249cc, DOHC, oil-cooled, V-twin motor produces 28PS at 10,000rpm and 22.07Nm at 8000rpm. A chain driven 5-speed unit tranfers power to the rear wheel. Underpinnings include USD forks upfront and a pre-load adjustable monoshock at the rear. Braking is handled by dual discs at the front and single disc at the rear. Dual-channel ABS comes in as standard on both the bikes.

Coming in via the CKD route, the Aquila Pro 650 is priced at Rs 5.55 lakh and the GT250 R is priced at Rs 3.38 lakh (both, ex-showroom). At this price point, the Aquila Pro 650 competes with the Harley-Davidson Street 750, Kawasaki Vulcan S and the upcoming Royal Enfield Interceptor 650. The GT250 R on the other hand competes with the KTM RC 390, Yamaha R3, Benelli 302R and Kawasaki Ninja 300.
