Cleveland Ace Deluxe Gets A Price Revision

• The Cleveland Ace Deluxe is more of a modern classic while the Misfit is a Cafe Racer

The American bikemaker Cleveland CycleWerks has slashed prices for its recently launched Ace Deluxe. The price cut of Rs 38,000 brings the cost of the bike down to a digestible Rs 1.85 lakh. This introductory offer which is only valid for the first 200 odd customers will help get the ball rolling for the brand which is currently setting up its base in the country. Originally, the price of the Ace of was set at Rs 2.24 lakh.

The Cleveland Misfit, on the other hand, which was launched alongside the Ace Deluxe retains its price tag of Rs 2.49 lakhs (all prices, ex-showroom Delhi). The company will soon be launching two new variants based on the Ace Deluxe - the Scrambler and Cafe Racer. Speaking of the Ace Deluxe, it's designed keeping in mind the neo-retro trend that’s currently swamping the two-wheeler market. Bikes like the Jawas and the Royal Enfield 650cc twins have certainly stirred things up in the motorcycle market. On the contrary, the Misfit takes its styling cues from the Cafe Racers of yesteryear, albeit, some modern components. Both bikes take the CKD route and are locally assembled at the company's facility in Pune. 

The Cleveland Ace and Misfit are powered by the same 229cc, single-cylinder, air-cooled motor that puts out 15.4PS of power at 7000rpm and 16Nm of torque at 6000rpm. It comes mated to a 5-speed transmission. 

The Ace employs a single-downtube frame with engine as a stressed member. Suspension duties are handled by upside-down forks and twin shock absorbers at the rear. Anchoring the Ace is a single 298mm disc paired to a twin-piston calliper at the front, and a single 210mm disc brake unit at the rear. Fuel tank capacity stands at 15-litres and the bike tips the scale at just 133kg.

While the price cut may attract customers, the bikes performance figures and features are still not on par with its competition. Rather, considering its power figures, the Ace competes with bikes in the 125-150cc segment which cost less than half of the asking price of the Cleveland Ace.
