Engine options
- 2019 Maruti WagonR gets two petrol engine options - 1.0-litre and 1.2-litre.
- The 1.0-litre, three-pot has been carried over from the older model and comes mated to a 5-speed manual transmission. There's an AMT on offer as well on the VXi variant.
- This unit continues to produce 68PS of power and 90Nm of peak torque.
- You can only get this motor with the LXi and the VXi variants.
- The larger 1.2-litre engine is the same unit that powers the Swift, Dzire, Ignis and the Baleno. It can be had with either a 5-speed manual or an AMT.
- Like its siblings, the WagonR equipped with the larger motor produces 83PS of power and 113Nm of peak torque.
- This engine is available VXi and ZXi variants only.
- Claimed fuel efficiency for both MT and AMT stands at 21.5kmpl for the 1.2-litre motor and 22.5kmpl for 1.0-litre unit.

Exteriors
- The new Maruti WagonR looks quite different from the older one. However, it still retains its tallboy design.
- It is now built on Suzuki's Heartect platform. It has made the hatchback bigger than before and it now measures 3655mm (+19mm) in length, 1620mm (+145mm) in width, 1675mm (+5 mm) in height and gets a wheelbase of 2435mm (+35mm).
- The new hatchback has taken a more European form thanks to a flowy design and leaving behind the sharp lines and creases.
- Unlike its Heartect-based siblings, it doesn't get projector headlamps or LED DRLs.
- The base variant gets 185/80 R13 wheels while all other variants get 165/70 R14 wheels. It only gets steel wheels as alloy wheels are not offered on any of the variants.
- The electrically foldable ORVMs get integrated turn indicates and a two-tone finish.
- At the rear, you get a washer and wiper. The taillamps are stacked vertically like on the Ertiga but do not get any LED elements.
- It will be available in six body colours - white, silver, grey, orange, brown and blue.

Interiors
- The larger proportions of the new WagonR has freed up more space inside the cabin. You now get 120mm more front and rear shoulder room, which should allow three passengers to sit comfortably at the back.
- While the dashboard has been completely redesigned, Maruti has retained certain elements from the older car, including the twin glove box and the design of the AC vents.
- A 7-inch SmartPlay Studio touchscreen infotainment system takes centre stage inside the cabin. This is not the same Suzuki SmartPlay unit seen on more expensive Maruti cars. But it supports Apple CarPlay and Android Auto and gets in-built navigation as well.
- All four power windows from the VXi variant onwards; LXi gets front power windows.
- You also get steering-mounted controls for calls and audio as well as a new instrument cluster.
- Both the front and the rear seats get fixed headrests and fabric upholstery.
- Rear seat gets a 60:40 split-fold function. Boot space has been increased to 341 litres.

Safety
- In terms of safety, the new WagonR gets dual airbags, ABS with EBD and rear parking sensors.
- Driver airbag is standard across the range. A passenger airbag is part of the options list. Top-spec ZXi variant gets dual airbags as standard.
