Yamaha has launched its updated FZ range for 2019. The motorcycles now feature single-channel ABS as standard and get a significant update to the bodywork. Here is how the variants have been priced: FZ-FI V3.0 ABS (Rs 95,000) and FZS-FI V3.0 ABS (Rs 97,000).

For reference, here is how the V2.0, non-ABS equipped range is priced: FZ FI (Rs 82,040), FZS FI (Rs 84,042-85,012), FZS FI rear disc (Rs 87,042-88,042). All prices, ex-showroom, Delhi.

Around a week ago, a frontal spy image of the production-spec bike revealed most of its changes over the current model. The bike's update retains the sharp, muscular profile of the FZ, albeit with wider bodywork on the fuel tank. The front end of the tank sports an air-vent-like grille structure, which is only an aesthetic addition, rather than a functional one. The motorcycle also ditches its split seat layout for a single unit. Other additions include a new belly-pan. Yamaha has also changed up the rear of the motorcycle with redesigned bodywork and a new taillight. A new LCD instrument cluster and LED headlight are also part of the update.

The mechanicals bits, however, remain unchanged. It continues to the same 149cc, air-cooled, two-valve, single-cylinder motor that makes 13.2hp and 12.8Nm of torque, which comes paired to a five-speed gearbox.

In terms of competition, the FZ takes on the likes of the Honda CB Hornet 160R (Rs 86,182-94,182), TVS Apache RTR 160 4V (Rs 83,145-92,154), Suzuki Gixxer (Rs 81,550-87,871) and Bajaj Pulsar NS160 (Rs 85,690).
