Triumph Bonneville Range Recalled In India

 

• The recall is because of a potential wiring harness issue.
• Affected models include bikes in the T100, T120 Bonneville and Street Twin range.
• Triumph has already recalled over 12,000 of its bikes in the US.
• Over 68,686 bikes have been affected globally.

Triumph India has issued a recall for its Bonneville, Street Twin and Street Scrambler range over a potential wiring harness failure. This recall follows the one in the USA where over 12,000 Triumph bikes have been affected. The bikes recalled in the US include Bonneville T100, T100 Black (2017-2019), Bonneville T120, T120 Black (2016-2019), Street Twin, Street Twin A2 (2016-2018), Street Scrambler (2017-2018) and Street Cup. Of these, the Street Cup and Street Twin A2 are not sold in India.

The issue pertains to the wiring harness in the headstock. According to Triumph, the clutch cable rubbing against the wiring harness leads to the wires getting damaged. This can cause electrical systems like the headlamp, turn indicator and in some case ignition system like the engine kill switch to malfunction. As a result of this, you cannot switch off the bike.

Triumph India has asked owners of any of the above-mentioned bikes to contact their dealerships and get the affected wiring harness replaced free of cost. Here is what Shoeb Farooq, General Manager – Triumph Motorcycles India, had to say, “Triumph has launched a safety recall concerning the Headstock Tidy on certain Street Scrambler, Street Twin, Street twin A2 Licence Version, Street Cup, Bonneville T100, Bonneville T100 Black, Bonneville T120 and Bonneville T120 Black to remedy an indicator and main beam malfunction and possible loss of engine power caused by the clutch cable contacting the main harness, causing damage to the wiring within the main harness. 68,686 motorcycles are affected globally. Any concerned customers are asked in the first instance to contact their local Triumph Dealer as soon as possible who will be able to carry out all necessary work as required at no cost to the owner.”
