Triumph India is all set to announce the pricing for its most hardcore off-roader, the Scrambler 1200 XC tomorrow at 3:00pm. We have ridden the mad off-roader through some challenging, scenic trails of Himachal Pradesh, so do stay tuned to check out our first ride review.
Triumph sells two variants abroad: the XC and the XE but the British bikemaker will be offering only the XC variant. It’s presumably because the pricing of the XE version will push more towards full-blown ADV territory, thus resulting in cannibalization of Triumph’s own Tiger range. Although it does not have any natural rival, the Triumph Scrambler 1200 XC will go head-to-head against the Ducati Scrambler Desert Sled, as the two are the true blue representations of the genre.

Powering the Scrambler 1200 is a Thruxton-derived 1200cc parallel twin engine but it gets its own ‘Scrambler’ tune which belts out 90PS and 110Nm. The motor is paired with a 6-speed transmission with slip assist clutch. There are five riding modes as standard along with the switchable traction control and dual-channel ABS. Other notable features include a full-LED lighting system and TFT colour instrument cluster with a 5-way joystick on the switchgear.
The motorcycle rides on Showa inverted fork and twin Ohlins shock absorbers - both fully adjustable. It comes to a halt using twin 320mm discs up front and a 255mm disc at the rear. Head here for the finer details about the upcoming motorcycle.
