We were impressed by the at its global reveal last week here in India. The compact SUV packed conventional toughness wrapped in futuristic LED lighting which makes it a proper head turner. Not just that, it also got an extensive array of engine-transmission combinations and an impressive feature list which is seen for the first time in the segment. However, what Kia did not reveal at the time of the launch were the engine specifications and the dimensions of the SUV. The internet, being the resourceful place that it is, has leaked those details now.
Let's first take a look at the petrol engines. The Seltos will come with 2 petrol engine options: a turbocharged 1.4-litre unit and a naturally aspirated 1.5-litre. The former will only be available with a 7-speed DCT automatic while the 1.5-litre will have the option for a CVT. Both the engines will also be available with a 6-speed manual. The power figures of the engines are as follows.

The 1.4-litre Turbo GDI petrol engine has impressive output figures, especially when compared to the segment. The 1.5-litre motor though makes 8PS less power than the's 1.5-litre motor which makes 143PS of power and 250Nm of torque.
The diesel engine here is a 1.5-litre motor which churns out 115PS of power and 250Nm of peak torque. It will be available with a 6-speed manual and a 6-speed torque converter automatic. When compared to the segment, these figures fall short of not only the Compass but also the Creta's most popular 1.6-litre diesel unit. However, the Seltos is more powerful than the Creta's smaller 1.4-litre diesel.

Kia will look to price the Seltos aggressively in India, which means a starting price of Rs 10 lakh with the flagship GT line being priced close to Rs 16 lakh (both ex-showroom). The Seltos will rival the likes of the Hyundai Creta, Tata Harrier and MG Hector. To know more about the Kia Seltos' features and launch details, check out the links below.
