Just two months ago, KTM increased the price of the KTM 125 Duke taking its price tag from its introductory cost of Rs 1.18 lakh to Rs 1.25 lakh. Now, the manufacturer has increased its price again to Rs 1.30 lakh. However, the baby Duke is still the most affordable motorcycle in the manufacturer’s line-up, but now sits just Rs 30,000 shy of the KTM 200 Duke.
The dealers we spoke with informed us that no changes have been made to the bike, and that the updated prices came into effect on June 1, 2019. Powering the motorcycle is a 124.7cc, single-cylinder, DOHC liquid-cooled motor producing 14.5hp at 9,250rpm and 12Nm of torque at 8,000rpm. The 125 Duke features a single-channel ABS unit that’s similar to the 200 Duke’s.
The KTM 125 Duke is currently the most powerful 125cc motorcycle on sale in India, but it’s pricing, even during the time of launch, meant that it faced competition from a segment above. The recent hike in price means it now costs significantly more than more powerful, larger displacement bikes, like the TVS Apache RTR 200 4V ABS (Rs 1.11 lakh) and the Bajaj Pulsar NS200 (Rs 1.12 lakh), in our two-wheeler space. The increased price tag also means it sits much closer to the Yamaha MT-15 (Rs 1.36 lakh).
All prices, ex-showroom, Delhi.
