Hyundai Grand i10 Nios vs Maruti Swift vs Grand i10 vs Ford Figo Specification Comparison

Hyundai India is on a roll and is set to is also expecting to make a splash. But it does have to take on some well established rivals like the Maruti Suzuki Swift and the fun-to-drive Ford Figo. It also has its own stablemate, the Grand i10, which in fact is a pretty good offering. Can the Grand i10 Nios take pole position and replicate the success of the Grand i10? Let's find out.

Based on leaked information from the internet, the Grand i10 Nios is larger than the Grand i10 though it is still smaller than the and Figo. It must be mentioned that the Nios trails the Swift by a marginal amount in terms of length and height though both have an identical wheelbase. The Grand i10 is the smallest in all dimensions.

But while the Grand i10 might be the smallest of the bunch, Hyundai has cleverly packaged its interior. Leg space at the rear was right up there with the competition and the Grand i10 can comfortably seat five. Considering the fact that the Nios Considering the fact that the Nios will be definitely larger than the Grand i10, we expect it to be even more spacious.

Inside, the Grand i10 Nios gets a touchscreen infotainment system, automatic climate control, steering-mounted audio controls, keyless entry and push button start, features that we've seen on other Hyundais as well. Zoom in the picture and you will also notice that it packs in a wireless charger, a first in its segment. Hyundai's BlueLink connected-car tech is also expected to be present.

The Hyundai Grand i10 Nios is expected to come with the same 1.2-litre litre powertrain as the current model and we expect it to be BS6-ready. Power and torque figures are also likely to be the same at 83PS and 114Nm, which incidentally is almost the same as the Swift. But if it's pure exhilaration you're looking after, the Figo might be a good bet for you. Its 1.2-litre petrol unit develops a class-leading 96PS and 120Nm. Then there's the automatic variant which uses a bigger 1.5-litre unit to produce 123PS and 150Nm.

When it comes to fuel efficiency the Swift is the leader, taking you 21.4 kilometres to the litre. Coming in at second is the Ford Figo MT and then the. Taking last position is the Ford Figo AT. Justifiable, considering it has the most powerful engine of this lot. Going by information from the internet, the Grand i10 Nios is expected to return 20.7kmpl.

Just like its petrol counterpart, the Grand i10 Nios is expected to share its 1.2-litre diesel powertrain with the Grand i10 and we expect it to be BS6-ready. The 1.2-litre unit, which incidentally is the smallest, develops 75PS of power and 190Nm, at par with the Swift. The Figo's diesel powerplant develops class-leading performance figures, just like it's petrol variant. 5-speed manual gearboxes are the norm among these cars, the Swift gets an diesel-AMT variant too. It is speculated that the Grand i10 Nios will be the first Hyundai car in the world to get a diesel-AMT powertrain.

In terms of fuel efficiency, the Swift comes first followed by the Figo and Grand i10. Going by information from the internet, the Grand i10 Nios is expected to return 26.2kmpl.

The Hyundai Grand i10 Nios is expected to be priced from Rs 5 lakh to Rs 8 lakh (ex-showroom pan India). Considering the fact that the Grand i10 Nios is expected to come loaded with features and has adequately powerful engines, the Nios has all it takes to be the numero uno in the segment.
