Renault Kwid Facelift Interiors Spied Ahead of Launch

• The Kwid facelift is expected to come with the same touchscreen unit and instrument cluster as the Triber.
• The hatchback will also borrow exterior styling elements from the City KZ-E all-electric hatchback.
• The entry-level hatchback will soldier on with the 800cc and 1.0-litre petrol engines.
• It is expected to be launched by the end of September.

The Renault borrowed from the Kwid EV sold in China. New spy shots suggest that the Kwid facelift will borrow bits from the Triber while also staying similar to the Kwid EV, better known as the City K-ZE.

The first thing that caught our attention inside the cabin is the new and bigger (possibly 8-inch) touchscreen infotainment system. It could be the same unit that is available in the Triber. A new steering wheel can also be seen along with a digital instrument cluster with a central multi-info display (MID), which are again similar to the one in the. Apart from these changes, there seems to be no other major revisions to the cabin. We were also able to spot orange coloured accents around the side AC vents and the gear knob like the Kwid Climber.

The Kwid facelift will also get new safety features with a driver side airbag, ABS with EBD, rear parking sensors and seatbelt reminders for the front occupants likely to be offered as standard.

The existing set of 800cc and 1.0-litre engine are expected to soldier on. The former puts out 54PS of power and 72Nm of peak torque while the 1.0-litre unit produces 68PS and 91Nm. Transmission duties will be taken care of by a 5-speed manual gearbox with a 5-speed AMT likely to remain exclusive to the 1.0-litre engine. These engines are also expected to be BS6-ready, but it remains to be seen whether it will be BS6-complaint at launch.

Expect the Kwid facelift to carry a nominal premium over the existing version which retails from Rs 2.76 lakh to Rs 4.76 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi). The Maruti Suzuki Alto, Datsun redi-GO and the upcoming will be its key rivals.
