SUV ahead of its possible debut at Auto Expo 2020. The concept version of Tata's micro-SUV was revealed at 2019 Geneva Motor Show. It'll slot below the Nexon in Tata's portfolio.
The spy shots reveal the silhouette of the production-spec SUV. It retains plenty of elements from the concept like the sharply raked A-pillar, squared wheel arches and the prominent shoulder line. The rear door handles are mounted on the window frame like the, giving it a 3-door effect.
At the front, the H2X comes with an upright nose with sleek projector headlamps. We expect the fascia design to closely.
Inside, the H2X could share its dashboard layout with other Tata cars. So expect a floating touchscreen infotainment system and a semi digital instrument cluster. We also expect it to be well equipped with features like Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, climate control, a multi-info display, steering-mounted audio control as well as keyless entry with push-button start.
The H2X will be underpinned by Tata's ALFA Arc (Agile, Light, Flexible and Advanced) platform. It could borrow the Altroz' BS6-compliant 1.2-litre petrol engine that develops 85PS and 114Nm. Currently, this engine is only available with a 5-speed manual and we expect an automatic to be offered as well. A diesel engine is highly unlikely for Tata's upcoming SUV.
The H2X could also get an electric version at a later stage. It could utilise and will soon make its way to other Tata EVs. The electric motor puts out 129PS and 245Nm, drawing power from a 30.2kWH battery pack. Tata Motors claims that it will offer a real-world driving range of 300km.
