via multiple sketches. The upcoming midsize sedan will most likely launch in India by the end of 2021 under VW's India 3.0 strategy. It will be based on the localized MQB-A0-IN platform and could borrow styling cues from the Russia-spec model. Unlike the current-gen Vento, the upcoming model has traits of a notchback. Here's how the it looks like:

The 2021 Vento borrows plenty of styling cues from the. The familiar VW grille comes with a thin chrome strip that merges with the headlamps while the aggressive airdams in the bumper looks sporty. A prominent shoulder line runs through the profile and the glass area has been redesigned as well. Moving on to the rear, the 2021 Vento comes with split tail lamps while the number plate housing has been shifted to the bumper.

Inside, the 2021 Vento's dashboard borrows styling cues from the recently launched Mark8 Golf. The central console comes with a floating infotainment screen and below it are the sleek AC vents and climate control knobs. The steering wheel looks similar to the Taigun's unit and the Vento now comes with digital instrumentation as well.

We expect the 2021 Vento to feature Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, connected car technology, climate control, cruise control, LED headlamps with DRLs as well as a cooled glove box. Expected safety features include 6 airbags, ABS with EBD, rear parking sensors and electronic stability program.

The India-spec 2021 Vento will most probably come with the BS6-compliant 1.0-litre TSI motor. It develops 115PS of power and 200Nm of torque. We expect it to be offered with a 6-speed manual and a dual clutch DSG automatic. Volkswagen could also plonk in the powerful 1.5-litre TSI EVO engine in the Vento. It develops 130PS of power and 200Nm of torque.

The upcoming Vento will most likely hit showrooms by the end of 2021. Expect it to be priced over the current model which starts from Rs 8.77 lakh (ex-showroom). When launched, the Vento will lock horns with the, 2020 Honda City, Maruti Suzuki Ciaz and the Hyundai Verna facelift.
