Jeep India has upgraded the entire Compass line-up with BS6-compliant petrol and diesel engines. While variant-wise prices have not yet been announced, the brand says that they have risen by about Rs 25,000 for the petrol models and by up to Rs 1.1 lakh for the diesel models.
While Jeep had only recently introduced the BS6 diesel-automatic Compass that came with a 2.0-litre engine, the powertrains that have been upgraded now are the 1.4-litre turbo-petrol with a 6-speed manual, the 1.4-litre turbo-petrol with a 7-speed dual-clutch automatic and the 2.0-litre turbo-diesel with the 6-speed manual. The brand claims that there is no change in specification or configuration, which means the outputs are unchanged. However, we’ll have to wait and see if there is a difference in ARAI fuel efficiency figures – in BS4 form, the petrol-MT is rated at 14.3kpl, the petrol-AT at 14.1kpl, the diesel-MT 4x2 at 17.1kpl figure, and the diesel-MT 4x4 at 16.3kpl.
The entire Compass range has also been updated with more kit – all variants now get engine start/stop as standard, while all automatic variants come with cruise control as standard.
Other than the upgrade to BS6 norms and the addition of two new features, the Jeep Compass hasn’t changed all that much.
