Hyundai just recently showcased the Grand i10 Nios Turbo at Auto Expo 2020, and now, we have this new sportier variant’s price. The Hyundai Grand i10 Nios Turbo is available in a single higher-spec Sportz variant that is priced at Rs 7.68 lakh (ex-showroom, pan-India). Dealer sources have confirmed dual-tone colour options will add about Rs 5,000 to the sticker price.

At this price point, the Nios with the 100hp/172Nm, 1.0-litre turbo-petrol engine costs Rs 1.25 lakh more than the Nios 1.2 petrol in the same variant, and Rs 49,000 more than the range-topping Nios 1.2 petrol Asta trim. As the new engine is not available in top-spec Asta form, the model is expected to miss out on features such as the larger 15-inch alloys (it's expected with 14-inchers instead), adjustable rear headrests, leather-wrapped steering, wireless smartphone charging, and keyless entry and go. Still, it will get a significant amount of kit like a rear defogger and parking camera, front fog lamps, an Android Auto and Apple CarPlay compatible 8.0-inch touchscreen infotainment system, power folding ORVMs, automatic climate control and a digital speedometer.

The Nios Turbo differentiates itself cosmetically from the Nios 1.2 – besides Turbo badges on the front grille and on the boot lid, the interiors also come with an all-black theme that contrasts with the red highlights.

For now, the Hyundai Grand i10 Nios Turbo does not have any direct BS6-compliant rivals as most affordable fun-to-drive cars (the Fiat Abarth Punto, Maruti Suzuki Baleno RS, Tata Tiago JTP) will not make it into the BS6 era. Only when the Volkswagen Polo 1.0 TSI arrives will Hyundai’s warm hatch get a proper rival.
