Last week wehad also teased the SUV and we even got a glimpse of a test mule sometime back. Now, Mahindra has silently launched the BS6 version in India. Here's how it looks in comparison to the outgoing BS4 version.

Like before, the is offered in two variants: 2WD and 4WD. With the BS6 update, both variants attract a premium of almost Rs 1 lakh. This premium was expected as the Alturas G4 deploys a 2.2-litre diesel engine. The Alturas comes with uniform pricing across all states in India.

Speaking of the engine, in its BS6 guise, it develops the same 181PS and 420Nm of twist. The gearbox is the same 7-speed automatic transmission sourced from Mercedes-Benz. Mechanically and cosmetically, the Alturas G4 BS6 is identical to the outgoing BS4 version.

Some standout features are an 8-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, a powered driver seat, dual-zone climate control, powered tailgate, cruise control, coloured multi-info display, sunroof, ambient lighting, powered driver's seat, and ventilated front seats. Safety features on offer are nine airbags, ABS with EBD, front and rear parking sensors, 360-degree camera, electronic stability program, hill start assist, and hill descent control.

The Alturas G4 will take on the Isuzu MU-X, and Toyota Fortuner.
