The image of an off-road-oriented, entry-level Aprilia from the Terra range has surfaced online. The Terra series is manufactured and sold in China via Aprilia’s Chinese partner, Zongshen, and the model spied could be the latest addition to that line-up.
The source article mentions that the image is from a factory in China and that the bike in question is powered by a 249cc engine, which is the same single-cylinder, liquid-cooled unit from the Aprilia GPR 250 sportbike. On that motorcycle, the engine produces 26.5hp and 22Nm of torque, but we could see it feature a different state of tune, if it is the engine that will also power the Terra 250.
Currently, the Terra line-up includes a 125cc model and a 150cc model, both of which are available in two variants – Standard and Adventure. The main difference between the two variants in the lower-capacity models is that the Standard features an 18-inch front wheel, while the Adventure uses a 21-inch wheel at the front. We could see this new model offer similar options as well.
Other hardware includes a telescopic fork and a rear monoshock, with braking handled by disc brakes at both ends. The exhaust on the Terra 250 is also conventionally positioned, in comparison to the Terra 150 that features a high-rise exhaust.
The Terra 250 seems like a very interesting proposition and will fit right into our market, which is steadily inclining towards and accommodating more entry-level ADVs. However, there is no information on whether Aprilia has plans to introduce it here anytime soon, and it’s likely that it will be a China-only model, for now.
