There’s been no big announcement or launch event, but the Bajaj Pulsar NS200 BS6 has been officially launched. We know this because the bike has appeared on the manufacturer’s official website, along with its price. How much, you ask? Well, strap in, because the NS200 BS6 will set you back by Rs 1,25,030, making it a significant Rs 10,675 more expensive than its BS4 predecessor.
Why, you ask? The government, of course! Well, sort of. The stricter BS6 emission norms have meant that the NS now needs to employ fuel-injection rather than a carburettor, which also brings in the additional cost of an ECU. Throw in an extra catalytic converter with all those precious metals, and you can kinda see why the hike is as big as it is.

It’s not all bad news, though. As a result of fuel-injection, the BS6 version now produces more power and torque than before - 24.5PS and 18.5Nm compared to the previous 23.5PS and 18.3Nm. The increase in weight is only a couple of kilos (up to 156kg), so there’s every chance that the BS6 bike could be marginally quicker than before. Take into account the crisper throttle response and better fuel efficiency that fuel-injection usually brings with it, and the updated bike could be a better all-round package.
We’ll only know once we ride it, though. So until then, you can read about Bajaj’s other recent BS6 updates like the Pulsar 180F, Pulsar 220F, Pulsar RS200 or the Avenger range.
