has silently pulled the plug on the A3 sedan and Q3 SUV in India. Both the cars were powered by a 1.4-litre TFSI petrol and a 2.0-litre TDI diesel engine. This move comes after the BS6 switchover deadline of April 1, 2020.

Rivalling the CLA sedan in India, thewas priced from Rs 29.21 lakh to Rs 32.21 lakh. Our last brush with the entry-level luxury sedan was when it got a massive price cut of around Rs 5 lakh back in June 2019. Both the engines were available in two trim options: Premium and Technology. The TFSI engine developed 150PS and 250Nm of torque paired with a 7-speed automatic gearbox. Meanwhile, the diesel was good enough for 143PS/320Nm mated to a 6-speed automatic gearbox.

The Q3 also shared these engines with the sedan. The 1.4-litre TFSI unit was available in front wheel drive and developed the same 150PS of maximum power and 250Nm of peak torque. Meanwhile, the 2.0-litre diesel engine produced a healthier 184PS of power and 380Nm of torque and is paired with a 7-speed automatic transmission. We believe low sales coupled with the fact both these engines are still not BS6-compliant are the primary reasons why Audi decided to pull the plug.
