The Hyundai Palisade has just been awarded a 5-star crash test rating by the National Highway Traffic and Safety Administration (NHTSA), which is the US government’s version of the New Car Assessment Program (NCAP). The Palisade SUV, which is available in front-wheel and all-wheel-drive form, received five stars in both, frontal and side crash tests.
The full-size, 7-seat SUV comes with safety kit such as seven airbags, Hyundai’s Forward Collision-Avoidance Assist with Pedestrian Detection technology, lane keep assist, blind spot monitor, adaptive cruise control, rear cross-traffic collision detection and a driver attention warning as standard. Hyundai also provides a rear-occupant alert system that detects movement in the rear seats when the car is locked and alerts the driver by sounding the horn and via the Blue Link connected-car tech. The Palisade SUV also gets a safe exit feature that detects traffic when a door is about to be opened and warns occupants.
With the optional LED headlights, the Hyundai Palisade is also the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety’s (IIHS) 2020 Top Safety Pick.
While Hyundai India is not expected to bring this large SUV to India, the brand has recently launched the all-new Creta (which we’ve just driven) and the Verna facelift (we’ve got exclusive info on its mileage). During 2020, the Korean carmaker will also announce prices for the all-new i20 premium hatchback.
