Shortly after officially revealing prices for the BS6 diesel Hector, MG Motor India has now confirmed via Twitter that an automatic version will arrive in the near future.
Answering a query, MG has said that there is a DCT (dual-clutch transmission) automatic version of the Hector diesel coming soon. However, we can’t confirm exactly when Hector diesel-automatic prices will be announced due to the ongoing coronavirus pandemic. Other than the addition of the automatic option, there aren’t any other changes expected to the already feature-rich Hector.
Expect Hector diesel-DCT prices to be about Rs 1 lakh more than BS6 Hector diesel prices - the range now costs between Rs 13.88-17.72 lakh (ex-showroom, pan-India, except Kerala). However, like with the Hector petrol, expect MG to offer the automatic option on the top two variants of the Hector diesel. Hence, ex-showroom prices for the Hector diesel-AT can be estimated to be about Rs 17.5-19 lakh.
With the Hector diesel-DCT, MG will finally have a direct answer to the recently launched Tata Harrier automatic (Rs 16.25-20.25 lakh) and the likes of the Kia Seltos and Hyundai Creta, whose diesel-automatic variants are priced between Rs 13.54-17.34 lakh and Rs 15.99-17.20 lakh, respectively.
Whether the three-row MG Hector Plus will arrive before the Hector diesel-DCT is yet to be ascertained.
All prices are ex-showroom, pan-India
