Indian Motorcycle has revealed the 2020 FTR Carbon – a carbon-fibre-clad addition to the FTR bike line-up. The FTR Carbon is largely the same motorcycle as the FTR 1200 S; the only difference being the use of carbon-fibre components that replace certain parts of the standard bike. These include the front fender, headlight housing trim, tank and airbox covers, and the passenger-seat cowl. Additionally, the FTR Carbon also features a titanium exhaust from Akrapovič as standard and a ‘FTR Carbon’ branded centre console plate on the tank.

Mechanical components remain the same – powering the FTR Carbon is a 1,203cc, liquid-cooled V-twin engine that produces 126hp and 120Nm of torque. The electronics package includes lean-angle sensitive stability control, ABS, traction control, wheelie control, and three Ride Modes – Sport, Standard and Rain – that alter throttle response and traction control.

Braking hardware remains the same as the FTR 1200 S, too, with Brembo dual 320mm discs at the front and a 260mm disc at the rear. Suspension, meanwhile, is fully adjustable and features 150mm of travel at either end. Interestingly, Indian Motorcycle’s UK website shows that the FTR Carbon weighs 235kg, which is 4kg more than what the website cites as the weight of the FTR 1200 S. The carbon bits and aftermarket exhaust should have resulted in a lower kerb weight and there is no explanation from the company as to why the FTR Carbon weighs more than the standard bike.

For now, the FTR Carbon seems to be a model that has been made available only in Europe but it’s likely to make its way to the US and select international markets. The model has been added to the India website too. However, there’s no pricing or information indicating a launch here.

In the UK, the FTR Carbon costs £14,699 (Rs 13.8 lakh), while the FTR 1200 S carries a price tag of £12,999 (Rs 12.2 lakh). For reference, the FTR 1200 S is priced at Rs 15.99 lakh in India.
