Skoda has launched the Superb facelift with prices starting at Rs 29.99 lakh and going up to Rs 32.99 lakh (ex-showroom, pan-India). Compared to the outgoing model, 2020 Superb prices start about Rs 4 lakh higher. There are two trims on offer with the refreshed Superb – Sportline and Laurin & Klement (L&K).
2020 Superb gets a powerful petrol engine but no diesel
The biggest change to the Superb is the new larger 2.0-litre TSI turbo-petrol engine that replaces the old 1.8-litre TSI unit. Power and torque figures are notably higher, with the new unit making 190hp and 320Nm of torque; up 10hp and 70Nm over the previous engine. Power goes to the wheels via a 7-speed dual-clutch automatic gearbox as standard. Unlike the model it replaces, the facelift does not get a diesel engine option.
Design changes help it look fresh
Cosmetic updates include a tweaked front bumper and grille, new LED headlamps and new design alloy wheels, along with a bit more chrome at the rear. The Superb L&K comes with five colour options – Lava Blue, Moon White, Business Grey, Magic Black and Magnetic Brown. The 2020 Superb is also offered in a sportier looking Sportline variant, which adds unique alloy wheels, blacked-out exterior elements and a rear spoiler. The Superb Sportline is available in just three colour options – Race Blue, Moon White and Steel Grey.
There are more features on offer
Moving to the cabin, the updated Superb gets Skoda’s digital instrument cluster along with the addition of wireless phone charging and an updated infotainment system. Equipment carried over includes powered and ventilated front seats, Kanton audio system, three-zone climate control, front and rear parking sensors, hands-free parking and more – depending on the variant selected. The standard Superb comes with dual-tone black-and-beige upholstery with the Sportline featuring an all-black cabin to go with its sportier looks.
As it stands, the updated Superb has only one rival, the Toyota Camry Hybrid, which is priced at Rs 37.88 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi).
