- Suzuki had shown the BS6 Gixxer 250s at Auto Expo 2020.
- Engine outputs are more or less the same as its BS4 guise.
- Pre-bookings were already underway.
Suzuki India has completed its entire product portfolio’s transition to the BS6 emission norms with the launch of the BS6 versions of the Gixxer 250 and Gixxer SF 250. Both bikes have been silently launched and carry a premium of around Rs 3,500 on an average. Here are the new ex-showroom Delhi prices of the two bikes:
BS4 Price |
BS6 Price |
Difference |
|
Gixxer 250 |
Rs 1,59,800 |
Rs 1,63,400 |
Rs 3,600 |
Gixxer SF 250 |
Rs 1,70,655 |
Rs 1,74,000 |
Rs 3,345 |
Gixxer SF 250 MotoGP |
Rs 1,71,456 |
Rs 1,74,900 |
Rs 3,444 |
We are surprised that Suzuki has managed to price the BS6 versions of the Gixxer 250s well as the 150cc Gixxers carried a very high price premium for the BS6 models. The 150cc Gixxers were priced Rs 11,500 more than their BS4 counterparts, against which the Rs 3,600 premium for the 250s seems rather reasonable.
In terms of changes to the motorcycle, there aren’t any to speak of other than the mandatory ones to meet BS6 norms. The 249cc purely oil-cooled engine, now in its BS6 guise, puts out 26.5PS and 22.2Nm, which is 0.4Nm lower.
With these bikes, Suzuki will now shift the focus to bring the updated versions of its big bikes like the V-Strom 650XT and the Suzuki GSX-S750 to India next.
