Also evaluating the possibility of the Scrambler 1100 by year end
Yesterday, we reported that Ducat will be launching its first BS6 bike in India, the Panigale V2, by the end of August. We can now confirm that Ducati plans to have three BS6-compliant models on sale in India by the end of this calendar year.
Following the Panigale V2 in end-August, the next bike will be launched in October and will be from the Multistrada family. Which Multistrada is it exactly is not known at the moment, but we expect that this will be from the 950 family. The all-new Multistrada V4 is expected to be on sale by next year, and whether Ducati will have a Euro 5 version of the Multistrada 1260 ready in the next few months is a question. The 950 is more probable to arrive in our market in October, but whether Ducati India will bring in just the standard Multistrada 950 or also the Multistrada 950 S, with its electronic suspension, is yet to be confirmed. Prices are expected to start from upwards of Rs 13 lakh for the standard model.
Following the Multistrada launch, Ducati plans to bring in BS6-compliant versions of its Scrambler 800 range by November or December. The 800cc Scrambler is the top seller for Ducati in India and is usually available in more than one variant.
The updated 2019 Scrambler 800 range was launched in India in April last year in four variants. While the bikes brought more features like cornering ABS, they also carried a big jump in the prices. In 2019, prices started at Rs 7.89 lakh for the base Scrambler Icon, Rs 8.92 lakh for the Full Throttle, Rs 9.78 lakh for the Cafe Racer and Rs 9.93 lakh for the off-road ready Desert Sled. Whether all these variants will be available at launch later this year, and if Ducati can match these prices for the Euro 5 models, remains to be seen.
Finally, Ducati is also evaluating the BS6 Scrambler 1100 for an India launch this year. The bike is already available overseas in Euro 5 trim and it comes with some visual changes. The BS4 Scrambler 1100 sold in relatively small numbers here and when we reviewed it, we found it to be a nice road bike, but a ‘scrambler’ only by name.
All prices, ex-showroom, India.
