Watch Video Review

Hero had begun shipping off units of its latest 160cc naked motorcycle, the Xtreme 160R, to its various touchpoints across the country about a couple of weeks ago. The bikes have reached most dealerships now with deliveries for the Xtreme commencing soon.

The Xtreme series received quite a makeover with the Xtreme 160R now bolder and chunkier than before. It gets LED lighting and a digital console, a pretty standard feature for most bikes in this segment, but it is styled and packaged quite well.

The Xtreme 160R is powered by a pretty powerful 163cc single-cylinder fuel-injected two-valve engine. Output figures of 15.23PS and 14Nm are pretty much at the top of the class and what helps the Hero’s case even further is that it is the lightest bike amongst its rivals. At 138kg, the Xtreme 160R is a whole 11kg lighter than the TVS Apache RTR 160 4V.

The Xtreme 160R is also one of the most affordable options in its class. At Rs 99,950 for the rear drum variant and Rs 1,03,500 for the rear disc version, there aren’t many motorcycles that offer as much bang for your buck in the 160cc class as the Xtreme does. The only rival cheaper than the Xtreme 160R is the Yamaha FZ-Fi V3 which costs Rs 250 less. But the small Yamaha doesn’t possess the performance to even come within touching distance of the Hero.
