Carlin's Jehan Daruvala had a relatively quiet sprint race in the fifth round of the FIA Formula 2 Championship at Silverstone with a 9th place finish. Unfortunately not really a positive result for Daruvala as fellow Red Bull junior driver Yuki Tsunoda took his maiden Formula 2 victory.
Lining up for the sprint race, Daruvala made up a place off the line and was keeping up with the top 10 runners. But since a pitstop is only mandatory for the sprint race, the Indian driver was stuck there for the entire race with his tyres eventually falling off towards the end.
Fortunately, Daruvala benefited from late incidents for Chritian Lundgaard and Robert Schwartzman to finish 9th in the end, just one place behind a points finish. These incidents, especially the Schwartzman incident also benefited Yuki Tsunoda to take his first win of the season.
It wasn't exactly the greatest end to Jehan Daruvala's race weekend with his teammate having a much better run of results. He'll be hoping for better results when F2 heads to Barcelona, Spain for round five of the Formula 2 Championship from August 14-16.
