- TVS showcased the Zeppelin concept motorcycle at Auto Expo 2020.
- It featured a 220cc motor and belt drive.
- … and a mild hybrid setup similar to Maruti’s SHVS.
TVS first showcased its Zeppelin cruiser concept motorcycle at the 2018 Auto Expo. We haven't witnessed serious development on that front since then. But there have been new additions to the cruiser market in the form of the Honda H’Ness CB350, the Jawa Perak and the Royal Enfield Meteor. Now according to patent documents, TVS have copyrighted the ‘Zeppelin R’ name. This leads us to believe that TVS might come up with the Zeppelin R cruiser to rival them.
While the H’Ness, Perak and Meteor are retro cruisers, the TVS Zeppelin could set itself apart as a power cruiser. The concept motorcycle had a 220cc motor. TVS could equip the production variant with a performance-oriented 250cc motor or even the 310cc motor from the Apache RR 310. The concept also featured a mild hybrid system similar to the SHVS seen on the Maruti Suzuki Ciaz. It could debut on the Zeppelin R.
The concept Zeppelin had modern features like LED lighting, digital instrument console and even some interesting ones like an action camera mounted on the headlamp. While the action camera could be dropped, we could see the rest of the features make it on the production model. The production model could get 41mm upside down forks, monoshock and petal discs on both ends. Its spoke wheels could be replaced with alloy wheels for the production version.
TVS could launch the Zeppelin R sometime next year. We expect it to be priced at Rs 1.5 lakh. That would make it quite a tempting proposition. Stay tuned for more details.
