Last month, Triumph Motorcycles filed an application with the Environmental Protection Agency for the Tiger 850 Sport model. Now, the brand has released a teaser across its social media handles announcing the global unveiling of its new adventure tourer on November 17.
Just like with the Tiger 900 and more recently the Trident, it is hard to make out any details except what Triumph has revealed. While the Tiger 1050 Sport has a prominent bug-eyed face, the new 850 Sport’s fascia looks straight off the Tiger 900, right down to the beak which was missing in the 1050 Sport. The bike also flaunts its distinctive branding on the fuel tank.
Though the brand has not revealed any details about the engine, the EPA filings mention the upcoming motorcycle will use the same 888cc, inline-triple from the Tiger 900 that delivers 94PS and 87Nm.
The Tiger Sport has always been a road-focused motorcycle with long-travel suspension, road tyres, taller windscreen, and comfortable seats. We expect the new Tiger 850 Sport to carry forward the same traits.
Will it come to India? We certainly hope so, and if it does, it will go head-on with the likes of the BMW F 750 GS and Ducati Multistrada 950.
