Ahead of their debut at the 2015 Detroit Motor Show, BMW has officially revealed the facelifted 6 Series, 6 Series Gran Coupe, 6 Series Convertible and the M6 models. Cosmetically, changes in the new cars are trivial and it would take a trained eye to tell the new model and its predecessor apart.

At the front, the new 6 Series as well as the M6 models sport new LED headlamps and foglights. The kidney grille now has nine bars instead of 10, a step taken to improve the cooling of the engine. The bumper has also been slightly altered and now features a full-width air-vent. It gets redesigned mirrors to improve the airflow around the car. The rear profile has been updated with more chrome on the boot and bigger exhaust pipes in the six-cylinder models. The cars also get new designs for the alloy wheels and new paint schemes.

Inside, the new cars get more LEDs and leather bits for the dashboard. Mechanically, all the models get rear-wheel steering and minor changes in the damper settings. All petrol cars now come with sport exhaust system as standard, which produces a throatier exhaust note. BMW claims that the efficiency in the newer models has improved marginally, thanks to better aerodynamics of the new models.

Rumour mills had recently speculated that BMW has discontinued the 6 Series and M6 models in India, though the official website continues to list both the models on their website. The three new 6 Series models will make their first public appearance at the 2015 Detroit Motor Show in January, next year and deliveries in the UK will commence soon after its unveiling. In India, we expect BMW to introduce the updated models by the second quarter of next year.
