Land Rover has introduced a locally manufactured version of the Range Rover Velar in India, priced at Rs 72.47 lakh (ex-showroom, India). The locally-produced Velar is available in a single ‘R-Dynamic S’ variant with two engine options for buyers to choose from.

The locally-produced Velar's features include a Touch Pro Duo infotainment system with Wi-Fi and Pro services, a 380W Meridian sound system, an activity key, premium leather upholstery, four-zone automatic climate control, cabin air ionization, powered tailgate, park assist, adaptive dynamics, 20-inch alloys with a full-size spare, a R-Dynamic exterior pack and LED headlights with LED DRLs.

In terms of engines, the Velar gets a 2.0-litre petrol unit that produces 250hp at 5,500rpm and 365Nm of torque at 1,500rpm. The diesel option is a 2.0-litre unit that puts out 179hp at 4,000rpm and 430Nm of torque at 1,750-2,500 rpm. Both engines send power to all four wheels via an 8-speed torque converter automatic gearbox.

Bookings for the locally produced Velar are now open, with deliveries set to begin in early May 2019. In India, the Range Rover Velar range rivals other luxury SUVs like the Jaguar F-Pace, the Mercedes GLE Coupe and the BMW X6.
