A few days back, we got a set of of the 2020 XUV500's cabin, which revealed the 7-seater layout and the dashboard design. What we have now are even more clear images of the second and third rows of the SUV giving us an idea of the space on offer.

Mahindra has reworked the whole cabin design and layout of the The central touchscreen unit, which joins the instrument cluster, is the most obvious change to the cabin. The aircon vents have also moved to a lower position below the touchscreen infotainment system. From earlier spy shots, we could also make out the design of the instrument cluster, which gets a central MID flanked by two analogue clusters. What's also new is the three-spoke flat-bottom steering wheel.

The dark-grey coloured front seats look amply supportive with adequate side bolstering. Interestingly, the spy shot also reveals that the second and third row seats are finished in beige instead of grey. This also leads us to believe that the 2020 XUV500 might be offered in different trim options. Being based on a new platform, the SUV is expected to offer more space and the room on offer definitely looks impressive from the spy shots. This is also expected to open up more space in the third row. A charging port and a small cubby hole are the other noticeable bits from the third row.

The same story is carried over to the exteriors where the 2020 XUV500 gets a major overhaul. Thanks to strong camouflage game, we can't draw a clear picture of how the SUV looks. Some highlights include the flush-fitting door handles and the bulge on the C-pillar like the existing version.

Powertrain options are expected to be two BS6 2.0-litre petrol and diesel engines. Although downsized, these engines are likely to produce more power than its 2.2-litre counterparts (155PS/360Nm for the diesel and 140PS/320Nm for the petrol). Transmission options might include a 6-speed manual and automatic gearbox with the option of all-wheel-drive.
