Although 2019 was, we also got a handful of sedans. It is a known fact that the whole world is tilting more towards SUVs. And as time marches forward, we will see a steep increase in the number of SUVs, more so with what is already in stock for 2020. Nevertheless, with 2019 coming to an end, we thought we'd take a quick glance at some of the best sedans that were launched in the year:
2019 Honda Civic
After a hiatus of 6 years, Honda finally decided to resurrect the celebrated Civic name in India in its 10th generation guise. The sedan has everything going for it - right from its sharp styling down to the brilliant chassis. It also comes loaded with ample features and two powertrain options: a 1.6-litre diesel and a 1.8-litre petrol engine - to go up against rivals such as the Octavia and Elantra. Here's our
Hyundai Elantra Facelift
Hyundai's answer to the Volkswagen Jetta, Skoda Octavia and the Honda Civic received a facelift back in Hyundai offers the sedan in three variants - S, SX and SX (O) - with prices ranging from Rs 15.89 lakh to Rs 19.49 lakh (ex-showroom). Under the hood is a BS6-compliant 2.0-litre petrol engine paired with a 6-speed manual or a CVT.
BMW 3 Series
BMW's entry-level luxury sedan, , has grown in size and has shed some weight for good measure. The sedan is underpinned by a new platform and is offered with either a 2.0-litre turbocharged diesel or petrol engine. The petrol 330i is plenty fast with 0-100kmph coming up in 5.8 seconds thanks to 258PS and 400Nm of torque on tap.
Audi A6
Audi launched the new and updated with prices starting from 54.2 lakh (ex-showroom India). The German carmaker is only offering a BS6-compliant 2.0-litre TFSI powertrain, good enough for 245PS of power and 370Nm of torque. Meanwhile, the 2.0-litre diesel is expected to join later, once the new emissions norms come into place. The A6 also brings sharp styling and completely redesigned interiors to the table.
Jaguar XE Facelift
The Jaguar XE was one of the we witnessed this year. The baby Jaguar received subtle updates and remains one of the best-looking sedans in India. There are two engine options on offer - a 2.0-litre diesel (180PS and 430Nm) and a 2.0-litre petrol (247PS of power and 365Nm). The cabin now features a 10.2-inch infotainment system and updated HVAC controls. If you're wondering, prices for the XE now begin from Rs 44.98 lakh.
BMW 7 Series
BMW's latest flagship sedan and Mercedes-Benz S-Class' arch-rival, the 7 Series, was launched in India along with the X7. Highlights include a 6.6-litre V12 petrol, a 3.0-litre inline-six petrol, a 3.0-litre diesel and a 3.0-litre inline-six petrol plug-in hybrid Starting with the humongous kidney grilles, everything about the 7 Series was improved. All that opulence and new features do come at a price that now ranges from Rs 1.35 crore to Rs 2.43 crore.
