The BS6 Royal Enfield Himalayan has been officially launched. Apart from a cleaner powerplant, the motorcycle gets cosmetic and feature updates. Here’s how the BS6 Himalayan is different from its BS4 predecessor

 

Updated motor:

The updated BS6 411cc motor delivers 24.31PS and 32Nm. That is a drop of 0.5PS from the previous edition. Torque remains the same but given that the kerb weight is up by 5kg to 199kg, we can safely assume a drop in performance.

New colours:

We first saw the Himalayan in new colours at EICMA last year. Royal Enfield has launched the BS6 model in some of the showcased dual-tone colours. Besides the Snow White, Granite Black and Sleet Grey colour options, the BS6 Himalayan now comes in Gravel Grey and dual-tone Rock Red and Lake Blue colour schemes. 

 

Gets switchable ABS:

The BS6 Himalayan now gets switchable ABS. So, you can deactivate the rear wheel ABS with the help of a switch. It allows riders to lock and drift the rear-wheel on off-road surfaces. In addition, the Himalayan gets a hazard light switch, as well as improvements to the side stand for better hold on off-road surfaces as well.

Along with the new updates, the BS6 Himalayan is more expensive than the BS4 variant. With prices starting at Rs 1.86 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi) the BS6 variant costs around Rs 6,000 more than the BS4 variant.
