Royal Enfield’s official website is an interesting place at the moment. After the updated prices for the Himalayan BS6, we now have how much the 650 Twins will cost in their BS6 guise. An official launch is expected soon, perhaps even before the end of the month, and we can now report that prices have gone up by around Rs 8,500 to 9,000. Full pricing is listed below:

For the sake of transparency, we must tell you that the website doesn’t officially mention these as prices for the BS6 versions, but going by the timing as well as the size of the hike, we are quite certain that these numbers pertain to the upcoming BS6 updates.

The 648cc parallel-twin motor powering the Interceptor and Continental GT is already fuel-injected, so the BS6 update will likely be limited to just revised engine maps and different exhaust treatment. Catalytic converters use precious (and expensive) metals like platinum and palladium, hence the increase in price. No specs are available yet, but considering that this motor isn’t tuned to the ragged edge in its BS4 form, we won’t be surprised to see Royal Enfield retain output figures even after the BS6 update. For reference, the motor currently produces a very usable 47.65PS and 52Nm.

Disappointingly, there don’t seem to be any new colour options on offer like we had expected. That said, the existing choices already offer a fair amount of variety and look quite smart, so this isn’t a deal-breaker.
