SUV buyers were spoiled for choice in 2019 and the trend continues in 2020. The SUV segment is booming across the world and utility vehicles are penetrating the cracks between market segments. The transition to BS6 has made some BS4 models more affordable. Here they are:
: Rs 1 lakh consumer offer
The Harrier leads the segment with its high-speed stability and in the way it rides on bad roads. If you mind rowing your own gears and not having a sunroof, buy . The BS4 Harrier is going for Rs 1 lakh off, and the discount comes to Rs 1.4 lakh with the exchange bonus and corporate discount.
: Up to Rs 3.05 lakh off
Mahindra got a lot of things right with the SsangYong Rexton-based Alturas G4, but not every Mahindra buyer could experience it. Although it's still Mahindra's most expensive SUV, the carmaker has slashed prices by Rs 2.4 lakh. The corporate discount and exchange bonus takes that up to Rs 3.05 lakh.
: Up to Rs 2.37 lakh off
If you want a full-sizer, you can't go wrong with the Kodiaq. Only the base diesel automatic variant is discounted, but it gets a whopping Rs 2.37 lakh off.
: Up to Rs 5 lakh off
The CR-V was never as popular as the Toyota Fortuner, and that's the only reason why it gets the highest discount on this list. The discount is applicable to its 4WD diesel model only. How does it get any better?
: Rs 2 lakh
You hardly need an excuse to buy the Teutonic Duster. It is compact for urban driving and has all the utility you'll ever need. If you love its chunky proportions, Renault will give you one for Rs 2 lakh off. Other benefits can take that up to Rs 30,000.
: Up to Rs 1.04 lakh off
The XUV500 has been a segment favourite for years. You can either wait for the all-new model, or get the Rs 55,000 cash discount on the current generation. Other benefits take the total up to Rs 1.04 lakh.
: Up to Rs 2.15 lakh off
The Hexa is overlooked by SUV buyers because of its MPV proportions. But if its build quality and high-speed manners can't convince you, its Rs 1.5 lakh discount will. Tata will take another Rs 50,000 off if you trade in your old car.
: Rs 2 lakh cash discount
The pretty Captur wasn't popular in India, either, but the style-conscious among us could be spurred by its Rs 2 lakh cash discount. The corporate discount and exchange bonus amounts to an additional Rs 30,000.
: Up to Rs 91,000 off
For SUV purists, the ladder-frame, rear-drive TUV300 is the only 'proper' compact SUV in India. If you mostly drive on bad roads, you might find Mahindra's Rs 56,000 discount enticing. Give the dealership your old car and you get Rs 30,000 more off the price tag.
: Up to Rs 79,000 off
Once India's favourite SUV, the Scorpio seems outdated against its competition in 2020. But it rides well on bad roads and its body roll adds to the fun of driving this behemoth. Mahindra gives you up to Rs 79,000 off on this SUV.
Sub-4m SUVs
Maruti Suzuki has is also discounted by Rs 45,000.
