A while ago, we didn’t think 110cc scooters would even be updated to BS6 norms, but now we’ve already got a few on the market. The newly launched Honda Dio BS6 follows on from the Activa 6G, but Honda isn’t the only manufacturer with 110cc BS6 scooters. Erstwhile partner Hero MotoCorp also recently rolled out its Pleasure+ BS6, so which of the two fares better on paper?

Despite near identical displacement figures and fuel-injection across the board, the Pleasure’s 8.16PS gives it the edge over the Dio’s 7.76PS, and it arrives 1000rpm earlier in the rev range as well. The Honda claws back some ground with its healthier torque figure, which might give it slightly quicker acceleration off the mark, while the Hero could enjoy stronger top-end punch and higher top speed. A final verdict can only be given once we’ve ridden both scooters.

This is an area where the Dio has the clear upper hand, with its 12-inch front wheel and telescopic fork. The Pleasure has to make do with 10-inchers at both ends and trailing link front suspension, but it does get the option of alloy wheels, which the Honda misses out on. Overall, thanks to its hardware, we suspect the Dio will have the better ride quality of the two.

Dimensions & Weights

The Dio is the larger scooter here, but only slightly. Its marginally longer wheelbase should give it the edge when it comes to straight line stability. Despite squeezing in a considerably larger fuel tank and rolling on steel wheels, it ends up just 1kg heavier than the Pleasure+. Its slightly higher ground clearance is also a plus on our battered roads.

Pricing & Verdict

Honda Dio BS6

Hero Pleasure+ BS6

Price
(ex-showroom Delhi)

STD: Rs 59,990

DLX: Rs 63,340

Steel wheels: Rs 54,800

Alloy wheels: Rs 56,800

Both scooters are quite evenly matched on most fronts, with the Dio only gaining an advantage in the cycle parts department. However, it also packs in fully digital instrumentation and an LED headlight in its higher DLX variant as well as an external fuel-filler cap across the board, none of which are available on any variant of the Pleasure+. This justifies the disparity in pricing seen in the table above, and makes the Dio our pick of the lot.
