Hyundai has given the first official glimpse of the facelifted i30, ahead of its unveiling at the 2020 Geneva motor show.
The Korean carmaker has revealed an image of the car’s front end in the sporty N Line trim, showing a revamped grille, restyled bumpers and new LED headlights. Similar LED headlights and overall design language are also going to be present on the next-gen i20 hatchback. Hyundai says the changes are intended to give the i30 “a stronger, sharper look and more visual appeal.”
Hyundai has also confirmed that the refreshed i30 will feature a new-look rear bumper and tail-lights, along with new-design alloy wheels. On the inside, there will be a new digital instrument cluster and the option of a 10.25-inch infotainment touchscreen.
In the European market, the refreshed design will be adopted on the hatchback, i30 N hot hatch, i30 Fastback and i30 Tourer, with the last one being offered in N Line form for the first time.
Currently, there's no word on whether there will be any mechanical changes to the i30. The current-gen model has been on sale internationally since 2017, and these updates will bring its design in line with the rest of Hyundai’s range, including the i10 and the new i20 that will also make its debut at Geneva.
In related news, Hyundai showcased the i30 N Fastback at the 2020 Auto Expo. The Korean carmaker is currently contemplating bringing its more performance-focused ‘N’ sub-brand to India, and the i30 N Fastback might be the car it launches the brand with. In this sporty ‘N’ guise, the i30 Fastback uses a 2.0-litre turbo-petrol engine, which produces 250hp in standard form and 275hp with the performance package.
