Volkswagen will announce pricing for its second new SUV for India, the T-Roc on March 18, 2020. The launch of the T-Roc will follow the market introduction of the Tiguan AllSpace that will take place on March 3, 2020.
The T-Roc made its debut recently at the Auto Expo 2020 in February and bookings are currently underway at all Volkswagen dealerships in India. Volkswagen will bring the T-Roc to India as full-import initially, under the 2,500 car rule.
The SUV will be sold in India in a single variant that will be loaded to the brim. Standard features on the T-Roc will include full-LED headlamps and tail-lamps, dual-tone alloy wheels, and front and rear parking sensors, a digital instrument cluster, dual-zone automatic climate control, an 8.0-inch touchscreen, a panoramic sunroof and ‘Vienna’ leather seats. It will come with six airbags, ABS with EBD, ESC, a tyre pressure monitoring system and a parking camera as standard.
The T-Roc is around 4.2 meters long and sits below the Tiguan in the brand's global line-up. Under the hood, it will come with a 1.5-litre turbo petrol engine good for 150hp and 250Nm of torque. Gearbox duties will be carried out by a 7-speed DCT automatic gearbox. There will be no manual transmission on offer.
Expect VW to price the Tiguan in India around the Rs 20 lakh mark. At this pricing, it will rival the likes of the Jeep Compass and the soon-to-be-launched updated Hyundai Tucson.
