  • The 2020 City will be powered by BS6-compliant powertrains.
  • The 1.5-litre petrol and diesel engines will be carried over from the existing iteration.
  • It gets a major design overhaul with a new platform.
  • Currently the Honda City is priced from Rs 9.81 lakh (ex-showroom).

Honda India is all set to debut the 2020 City in Right ahead of that, a report has emerged revealing the variants and features of the sedan.

We already know that City will be powered by BS6-compliant petrol and diesel engines. We also have a clear idea of what the sedan will look like thanks to the new

The new report states that the sedan will be offered in three variants. But the exact names of these variants are still under wraps. Nevertheless, some expected features are traction control, tyre pressure monitoring system, 4 airbags, an 8-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Alexa support, and cruise control. The report also states that the space on offer and the cabin quality is an improvement over the current iteration.

Underpinned by a new platform, we expect the 2020 City to carry on its current set of power trains with BS6 updates. The 1.5-litre i-DTEC diesel engine puts out 100PS and 200Nm and the petrol 1.5-litre i-VTEC is good enough for 119PS and 145Nm. The latter has already been updated to BS6 and is currently on sale. We can't also rule out the probability of a mild-hybrid system with the 1.5-litre petrol engine.

Cosmetically, the new City is a step up from its predecessor. The sedan now features softer lines with a bigger grille and headlamps. The cabin also sees some major overhaul with a new design and layout with no similarity to the current version.

Main rivals for the Hyundai Verna and Maruti Suzuki Ciaz. Currently the Honda City is priced from Rs 9.81 lakh (ex-showroom).
