Today is the day that BS6 emission standards kick in, and just in the nick of time, Bajaj has launched a slew of updated products. There’s no accompanying fanfare, but the company has silently updated its website with prices for the new bikes, one of which is the Pulsar 180F BS6.
Not that we didn’t have an idea before. We’d already managed to uncover the price of the updated motorcycle, and we’d even dug up the BS6 version’s power output. And you know what? We were right! The official launch price of Rs 1,07,827 is nearly identical to the price revealed by us back in February. This also makes the BS6 version a considerable Rs 11,437 more expensive than its predecessor.
So why such a sizeable hike? Well, in order to meet the stricter emission norms, the 178.6cc motor is now fed by a fuel-injection system rather than the previous carburettor. And just like we predicted, the motor has retained its 17.02PS power output. Though torque is actually up by around 0.3Nm, to 14.52Nm. All this despite the fact that the engine now exhales through an additional catalytic converter.
Aside from the updates to the engine, there have been no other changes to the motorcycle. It isn’t just the 180F either: even its larger sibling, the 220F, has been updated to BS6 standards, as has the Avenger range across both its displacements.
