It’s hardly a surprise, is it? The bike already arrived at dealerships back in February, so it was only a matter of time before the Royal Enfield Interceptor 650 BS6 started being delivered to customers. And though there hasn’t been an official ‘launch’ yet, we already know how much the bike costs in its BS6 avatar. You can find that out here.
So what’s new on the BS6 bike? Well, to the naked eye, nothing. There isn’t even the customary additional catalytic converter that we’ve seen on nearly all BS6 updates so far. All the additional catalytic material has been packed into the existing exhaust hardware. You’ll have to have a real eagle eye to spot a BS6 bike, because the only way to tell one apart is a tiny stamp on one of the engine’s cooling fins.
It’s more than likely that some new maps have been plugged into the ECU to help bring down tailpipe emissions. So, has the motor lost out on any power as a result? Well, we’ve managed to uncover the specification of the BS6 motor, and you can find out here! Another bit of good news is that all the colour options have been retained, though this being an update, we’d have liked to see a few more cosmetic changes or at least a new colour scheme or two on offer.
