TVS has reportedly been working on a naked version of the Apache RR310 BS6. Likely to be called the Apache RTR 310, it could be launched early next year. Here’s what we can expect from the upcoming streetfighter.
It will carry the Apache design language:
We expect the upcoming RTR 310 to have similar design cues as the Apache lineup, especially the RTR 200 4V. So, expect a small headlamp, and large and sharp tank extensions. It could, however, use the same tail section as the Apache RR 310 BS6.
It will be based on the Apache RR 310:
Think similar powertrain, frame, and suspension components. We expect parts like clip-on handlebars, fuel tank, seat and rear grab rails to be carried over. The trellis frame, upside-down forks and monoshock, front and rear disc brakes, and even the Michelin Road 5 tyres could be carried over.
Performance could be slightly different though:
The Apache RR 310’s BS6-compliant 312cc liquid-cooled single-cylinder motor and 5-speed gearbox with slipper clutch will make way to the RTR 310. While power output is expected to be the same, 34PS and 27.3Nm, the RTR 310 could have different sprocket sizes for more sprightly performance. In terms of rider aids, the RTR 310 could get the RR 310 BS6’s four rider modes and Glide Through Technology Plus.
It could get the same features as the Apache RR 310 BS6:
While it could get a new LED headlamp, the RTR 310 would possibly share its LED tail lamp and LED turn indicators with the Apache RR 310 BS6. The new 5-inch TFT display could be carried over as well. It gets Bluetooth connectivity, which allows you to see post-ride analytics, accept and reject calls, as well as get turn-by-turn navigation and vehicle health info. It will get a dual-channel ABS setup like the RR 310 BS6.
It will undercut the RR 310 BS6:
The Apache RR 310 BS6 is currently priced at Rs 2.4 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi). By the time the Apache RR 310 is launched next year, we expect the RR 310 BS6’s pricing to go up by Rs 5,000 to Rs 6,000 owing to inflation. The upcoming RTR 310 is likely to be priced around Rs 2.2 lakh. At that price, it would undercut other 300cc to 400cc nakeds like the KTM 390 Duke, BMW G 310 R, and Honda CB300R.
