With this discontinuation of the Civic and CR-V diesel variants, the former is now available in only three trims and the latter in one sole petrol variant. Also, the CR-V loses the 7-seater option and all-wheel-drivetrain with the loss of the diesel. In the case of the Civic, the 6-speed manual transmission gets dropped since the petrol variants are only offered with a CVT transmission. Both models share a 1.6-litre 4-cylinder turbocharged unit producing 120PS and 300Nm.
The petrol-powered CR-V is a BS6-compliant 2.0-litre 4-cylinder naturally aspirated unit producing 154PS and 189Nm, paired to a CVT gearbox and 2WD. The Civic petrol variants are powered by a BS6-compliant 1.8-litre 4-cylinder naturally aspirated mill putting out 141PS and 174Nm. The CR-V rivals the likes of the.
The Honda BR-V was launched back in May 2016 with prices ranging from Rs 9.53 lakh to Rs 13.83 lakh (ex-showroom) in four variant trims. It was based on the now-discontinued Mobilio MPV and took on the likes of the Renault Duster and Hyundai Creta. However, it never managed to strike a chord with Indian buyers.
With the BS6 era officially in full swing, expect more changes to Honda's model lineup including the launch of the BS6 facelift later this month. Pre-bookings for the SUV are already being accepted for a token amount of Rs 21,000.
