Kawasaki had revealed details of its upcoming electric motorcycle last year and even had a working skeleton of the motorcycle at EICMA. The bike maker has now patented the name, EV Endeavor, for its electric sports bike. It will be styled similar to the Kawasaki Ninja 300 and will even share some of its underpinnings with the baby Ninja. Here’s what we know and what to expect from the upcoming electric motorcycle.

Kawasaki is yet to reveal more details about the motorcycle, but we managed to get a closer look at the running prototype last year and noticed several details. For one, it gets a trellis frame that uses the battery pack and electric motor as a stressed member. The charging port and electronic module sit above the battery pack while the electric motor has been mounted below for a better centre of gravity. The EV Endeavor also shares its alloy wheels and brake components with the Ninja 300. Going buy the Kawasaki test videos online, we could expect the EV Endeavor to be dynamically as competent as the Ninja 300.

Interestingly, it gets a 4-speed gearbox, which according to Kawasaki, will allow riders to utilise torque over a broader speed range. Unlike most EVs that use a belt-drive, the EV Endeavor gets a chain drive setup. According to Visor Down, the brushless electric motor will deliver close to 19kW. While the battery capacity is unknown at this point, it gets a DC fast charger called ‘CHAdeMO’ that is known to fully charge EVs with a range of 120km in half an hour.
We expect the upcoming electric motorcycle to feature all-LED lighting and a colour TFT screen instead of the LCD setup on the prototype. Kawasaki could showcase a close-to-production model at this year’s EICMA motor show and launch the EV Endeavor sometime next year.
