Husqvarna may offer two variants: a hardcore Norden 901 Adventure and a touring-friendly Norden 901 GT.
The Norden 901 GT may feature 17-inch wheels with dual-purpose tyres.
A full-digital instrument console with rider aids could be on the cards too.
Expect to see the pre-production model at EICMA 2020-21.

Just like its parent company, KTM, Swedish bike maker Husqvarna has been expanding its portfolio over the past couple of years. From entry-level Huskies, motocross and supermotos to bigger, more powerful singles, the Husqvarna range has it all. It also unveiled the neo-retro Norden 901 Adventure based on KTM’s parallel-twin platform at EICMA 2019, which received a tremendous response from enthusiasts. And what better way to further exploit this platform than introduce a touring-friendly version. The brand has started testing the Norden 901 GT overseas, and this could be its second offering.

The biggest giveaway is its ergonomics and design. From the looks of it, the bike still employs longer-travel suspension but with smaller 17-inch spoked wheels wrapped around dual-purpose tyres. The seats are well-cushioned, with taller set handlebars and slightly rear-set footpegs which offer an upright riding posture. It even has a smaller windscreen for wind deflection. The exposed engine could mean two things -- it’s either still in the early stages of testing, or it simply doesn’t need body cladding like the Norden Adventure since it’s more road-biased.

The rear sub-frame looks like it could accommodate panniers. In terms of its suspension setup, it may feature standard forks and a monoshock, both from WP with minor adjustability options. Anchoring the bike are twin disc brakes up front and a single disc at the rear.

The Norden GT will be powered by the 890 Duke’s parallel-twin motor which is rated for 121PS and 99Nm. Although, we believe, the engine used on the GT could be retuned to suit its touring attributes. Expect the bike to come with a bunch of electronic rider aids, all of which could be controlled via its full-digital instrument console. Other notable features include LED lights all around.

We reckon Husqvarna may launch the Norden 901 GT or at least a pre-production model alongside the Norden 901 Adventure at EICMA 2020. But considering the current COVID-19 situation, this could be pushed to 2021.
