Now that Honda has finished updating its entire scooter range to BS6 norms with the launch of the Grazia BS6 last week, the Japanese brand is focusing on motorcycles. While it already has 4 competent BS6 motorcycles on offer at the moment, in the lucrative 110cc space there is only the sole CD 110 Dream offering. That’s all set to change very soon with the launch of the upcoming Livo BS6. Here’s what you can expect from the new bike.
Powertrain
The most important change on the Livo BS6 is its all-new 109.51cc single-cylinder air-cooled motor, the very same engine that does duty in the CD 110, the Activa 6G and the Dio BS6. This means that it will be fuel-injected and brought to life via a silent ACG starter. In the CD 110, the motor produces 8.8PS and 9.3Nm, and figures should be very similar if not identical on the Livo.
Features
The biggest differentiating factor between Honda’s two 110cc commuters will be features. While the CD 100 is a sturdy bare-bones motorcycle, the Livo will be a more premium, stylish and feature-rich commuter bike. The previous analogue instrumentation will make way for a semi-digital design, and the Livo will get a handy engine kill switch and integrated headlight pass switch as well. We don’t think Honda will throw in an idling stop-start system, but the Livo will get body-coloured rear-view mirrors.
Underpinnings
There is no real requirement for change in this area, so we don’t expect Honda to do anything radical. The same underpinnings from the Livo BS4 will be carried over largely unchanged, meaning a single downtube cradle frame suspended on a telescopic fork up front and twin shock absorbers at the rear. A front disc brake option will continue to be offered, and Honda might just throw in low rolling resistance tyres for higher fuel efficiency.
Price
The Livo will be placed slightly higher than the CD 110 Dream, almost overlapping with the popular Shine BS6. With the CD priced at Rs 64,505 to Rs 65,505 and the Shine starting at Rs 67,857, we expect the Livo to slot in at around Rs 66,000 to Rs 69,000, with two variants on offer. The only difference between them will be a front disc brake. With a teaser video already out on social media, an official launch should be just around the corner, perhaps even before this week is up.
