Vespa has rolled out the facelifted versions of its VXL and SXL range of scooters. The new scooters were first shown at Auto Expo 2020 and the manufacturer began accepting bookings a while back. The facelifted versions of the Vespa VXL and SXL are priced at a slight premium when compared to their predecessors. Here’s a breakdown of the new prices:
Vespa Model |
New price |
Old price |
Difference |
VXL 125 |
Rs 1,10,373 |
Rs 1,08,802 |
Rs 1,571 |
SXL 125 |
Rs 1,14,204 |
Rs 1,12,049 |
Rs 2,155 |
VXL 150 |
Rs 1,22,693 |
Rs 1,21,121 |
Rs 1,572 |
SXL 150 |
Rs 1,27,008 |
Rs 1,25,107 |
Rs 1,901 |
Sadly, you don’t get a whole lot more for the premium that Vespa charges. Changes are limited to new LED headlights at the front. With a price tag starting from Rs 1.10 lakh (ex-showroom Pune), the VXL 125 and the rest of lineup seem exorbitantly priced for the engine displacement and performance figures they offer.
Earlier this year, Piaggio updated its 124.45cc and 149.5cc engines to meet BS6 emission norms. Thankfully, this was achieved without any drop in performance. The smaller engine puts out 9.65PS and 9.9Nm while the larger 150 unit produces 10.4PS and 10.6Nm.
With the launch of the updated VXL and SXL out of the way, Piaggio will soon shift its focus on bringing the limited edition Vespa Racing Sixties to the country. Meanwhile, it is also gearing up to launch the Aprilia SXR 160 that was showcased at the 2020 Auto Expo.
