There is the ‘small’ matter of a medical check that will be conducted this evening, but Repsol Honda have announced that MotoGP champion Marc Marquez will attempt to return to racing in this week’s Andalucia Grand Prix at Jerez.
Marquez fractured the humerus bone in his right arm following a crash at the season opening Spanish Grand Prix on Sunday. The Spaniard underwent a successful surgery on Tuesday after which the MotoGP traumatology specialist stated that a return to racing at the third round of the season may be possible.
Along with Marquez, Team Suzuki Ecstar’s Alex Rins and LCR Honda Castrol’s Cal Crutchlow were also injured after crashes prior to the season opener, which forced them to miss the race.
All three riders will be attempting to be declared fit to ride in this weekend’s race and the result of that inspection will be announced later this evening.
