  • Jawa Perak is the only bobber available in its segment in India.
  • It is priced at Rs 1,94,500 (ex-showroom Delhi).
  • You can book the bike online on Jawa’s website by paying a refundable deposit of Rs 10,000.

The Jawa Perak was launched in India back in November 2019, a year after the brand made its grand entry into the Indian market with the standard Jawa and the Jawa Forty Two. While deliveries for the bobber were planned to begin from April 2, 2020, it had to be delayed due to the ongoing coronavirus pandemic. Another reason could be that the ARAI certification wasn’t completed on time. Now, the brand is all set to commence deliveries from July 20.

Bookings are already open and you can reserve the bike online by paying a token amount of Rs 10,000 which is of course refundable. With the pandemic making crowded places unsafe, Jawa now offers test rides for prospective customers at their own homes or office. This should make the experience a lot safer than going to a crowded dealership. Expect deliveries to commence on a first-come-first-serve basis.

The Jawa Perak BS6 is currently the brand’s most powerful motorcycle in India, thanks to the larger, bored-out 334cc single-cylinder liquid-cooled engine. It produces 30.41PS and 31Nm, compared to the other two Jawas’ 26.51PS and 27.05Nm. The engine works in conjunction with a 6-speed transmission.

It is also the only motorcycle in Jawa’s India lineup to get a rear monoshock with a cage-like swingarm. The front end uses a telescopic fork. Braking is via a 280mm front and 240mm rear disc with dual-channel ABS as standard. The Jawa Perak has no natural rivals but the Royal Enfield Classic 350 dual-channel ABS variant and the Benelli Imperiale 400 BS6 come pretty close.

In a related development, the BS6-compliant standard Jawa and the Jawa Forty Two started reaching dealerships in June. You can read more about them here.
